Rumors also says that the reason for Simon Cowell leaving "Idol" is because he is bringing his hit Brit reality talent show "X Factor" to America. Cowell's contract on "Idol" will expire on May and has been having negotiations with FOX since last summer, and hopefully will announce the result of the negotiations sometime next year.
This is a very sad development from American Idol, Simon is the most indisputable star in the show, although many people hates his guts because of the way he criticize the contestants, his ability to spot true talent is remarkable. Paula Abdul has left the show and was replaced by Ellen Degeneres but I don't think American Idol will ever be the same without Simon. Because of this shocking developments, I can't help but wonder, is the next season of American Idol will be the last? Are we gonna see the show that launched a lot of huge name in the recording industry for the last time?

Simon Cowell has all the leverage against American Idol. He is the reason most people tune in, and without him the ratings will tumble.
